Lowery Research Effort
Lowery Research Effort This research effort is concentrated
on the Branch of the Lowery/Lowry tree that migrated to Shelby County Alabama
prior to the 1820 census report. David Lowry was born in South Carolina
and migrated through Tennessee to Alabama shortly after statehood. His
son, Thomas, had a child named Andrew Madison Lowery who migrated to Macon
County Alabama and married Kesiah Jane Mathis in 1851. Andrew and Kesiah
migrated to Covington County Alabama in 1855 and to Georgia during the
War Between the States (Civil War). After the war, they migrated to Escambia
Alabama. The primary researchers in this effort were born and raised in
Atmore, Escambia county, Alabama.
